The presidential campaign of U.S. Senator Bob Graham announced that it has signed with Roush Racing to sponsor a truck in the Truck Series beginning July 5th at the OReilly Auto Parts 250 in Kansas City, KS. The move breaks new ground as no Presidential candidate has ever sponsored a NASCAR vehicle. Jon Wood, from the legendary Wood Brothers racing family out of Virginia, will drive the Graham for President #50 Ford truck. Wood is currently seventh in the point standings in the Truck Series and has had four straight top-10 finishes. The Graham for President truck will take the white body, red roof and gold numbers of the original Wood Brothers #21 car. The Graham for President truck will carry Jon Woods number 50 which Wood said, I think the number 50 is a great number for Senator Graham we have NASCAR fans in all 50 states and Bob Graham is running to represent all 50 states as President. I just want to thank Senator Graham and his campaign for appreciating the culture of racing and for helping me personally by sponsoring our truck.(Roush Racing PR)(7-5-2003)
UPDATE: during an XM Radio interview, Wood said the deal is for Kansas [which he won] and this weeks race at Kentucky Speedway.(XM Satellite- NASCAR Radio – Subscription Required)(7-8-2003)
