#2-Andy Houston earned his fourth career pole, and first since May 21, 2000, with a lap of 181.531mph in his Dodge. #75-David Starr earned his fourth start on the outside of the first row at his home track with a speed of 180.385. #99-Carl Edwards, the runner-up to Gaughan in the last Texas race, will start third. #7-Tracy Hines and #50-Jon Wood, the third-place finisher in June, rounded out the top five qualifiers. Points leader #62-Brendan Gaughan will start at the back of the field in his attempt to become the first NASCAR truck driver to win four straight races at a track because he lost an engine in practice and had to make a change in his Dodge before qualifying Friday. #16-Travis Kvapil won at Texas in the fall 2001 race, the last one Gaughan didn’t win.
