Air Force’s NASCAR connection thunders into Tyndall Air Force Base:

  • Part of the Tyndall Air Force Base tarmac literally became a stock car racing pit road Jan.12 as one of NASCAR’s most dominant race teams roared into “The Home of Air Dominance.” The Wood Brothers’ Racing team, including veteran driver Ricky Rudd, brought their #21 Motorcraft Racing/U.S. Air Force Ford Taurus race car to the base. The 700-horsepower car sported a predominantly blue paint scheme, complete with Air Force logos and aircraft. The team, which the Air Force will partly sponsor for a fourth-consecutive NASCAR season beginning next month, invited base members to take part in a pit stop challenge. Tyndall responded, fielding nine separate teams competing for fastest pit stop honors in front of hundreds of spectators.(Tyndall Air Force Base PR), see full PR on the #21 Team News and Links page and images on the #21 Team Schemes page.(2-4-2004)
