Kenny Wallace misses, too high in Cup points [from 2003]; however, will drive the #91 UPDATE 2:

#23-Kenny Wallace’s Nextel Cup experience worked against his new Busch team Friday, preventing him from gaining a provisional starting position in Saturday’s Goody’s 200. Wallace drove Cup last season for Bill Davis Racing but moved to BDR’s Busch program this season. After running fastest in Friday morning’s practice, Wallace experienced problems during his qualifying lap and didn’t get in the field on speed. However, provisional allocation rules spelled out in the entry blank prevent drivers in the top 35 in points in Cup from using provisionals in Busch races. Although Wallace doesn’t run Cup now, driver and owner points from 2003 are used for the first four races of the 2004 season. Wallace was 30th in points last season and unable to gain entry in Saturday’s field. Wallace’s sponsor Stacker 2 and YJ Stinger will move to Mike Wallaces #4 Ford as an associate sponsor in Saturdays race. Mike Wallace is Kenny Wallace’s older brother.(ThatsRacin.com)

HOWEVER: Kenny Wallace will be driving the #91 car Saturday. Stanton Barrett has giving his position up to Kenny for the race. Michael Waltrip found the chance for Wallace to drive the car. “Hey I am just happy to get in a car, and I am more then happy that Stanton’s car has a good deal of speed in it. This has taken a complete loss of a weekend into something that may be great! I would like also to thank AmericInn Lodge and Suites for their sponsorship of the car and hope I can give them a good ride”, said Wallace. The car will be pitted by Craftsman Truck Terry Cook’s Pit Team.(Kenny Wallace Site)(2-20-2004)
