Todd Bodine and his family were filmed by a television production company at their Davidson, N.C., home earlier in the week for an upcoming special about NASCAR drivers and their pets on Animal Planet. The Bodines have a stable of six horses. Lynn, his wife, rides and shows some of them in competitions. They are part of a fostering program for horses in need through the North Carolina Equine Rescue League. The NCERL shelters equines that have been seized by law enforcement authorities and those surrendered by neglectful and/or abusive owners. The Bodines have one horse in their care that suffers from a rare skin disease. Another horse in their stables will eventually go to Kyle Petty’s Victory Junction Camp for seriously ill children when it opens later this year. The 60-minute special is scheduled to air in November. Bodine, who is still without a ride in NASCAR the season, acted as a track spotter for Randy LaJoie in last weekend’s Busch Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.(Elmira Star Gazette)(3-11-2004)
