#21-Kevin Harvick had a run-in with a NASCAR official on pit road: “As far as I know the rule is the tire has to be on the inner side of pit lane. So I had to sit there and wait until my guys went and caught the tire. That’s the same way we’ve done pit stops all year long. We have one official that’s mad because we pulled a fast one on them at Talladega with the spoiler issue, so I guess he’s trying to get his revenge. He just needs to worry about doing his job right.”
Busch veteran Brad Teague took issue with Harvick and Tony Stewart after the race and had to be restrained. NASCAR officials had no immediate comment on the issue.(Wisnton Salem Journal)
UPDATE: A scuffle broke out on pit road following Saturday’s Carquest 300 NASCAR Busch Series race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, involving driver Brad Teague and James Caldwell, who works for driver Kevin Harvick. According to witnesses, an angry Teague approached Harvick, who was sitting on the pit road wall, to complain about Harvick directing an obscene gesture toward him during the race. Harvick listened and after telling Teague to leave, threw water in his direction. Teague became incensed and moved toward Harvick, but instead ran into Caldwell, knocking him to the ground while throwing punches, witnesses said. Teague was then pulled away from Caldwell and left the area. Busch Series spokesman Rick Houston said officials were aware of the incident and that it was under investigation.(ThatsRacin.com)(5-30-2004)
