Jones to drive for Team Chick Motorsports:

Team Chick Motorsports announced that they have tapped NASCAR driver Eric Jones to drive their #74 Chevrolet. Jones joins Team Chick after leaving #03-Team EJP Racing at the start of the 2004 season. In addition to signing Jones, who also has experience in the Busch Series and ARCA RE/MAX Series, the team has a number of other changes that they are excited about. Team Chick has elected to switch manufacturers and will be running 2004 Silverados. Team Chick will also be changing numbers, they had run the #11 [now used part-time by Darrell Waltrip] for the past two seasons, but will replace it permanently with the #74 for future competition. Several things have remained the same, though. The team is determined, driven, and continues to feel fortunate to have the power of Tri-Star Motors in their Chevrolets. Last season Jones, the former winner of the CART/Skip Barber scholarship, competed in nine events behind the wheel of the #03 Chevrolet. In that short stint, he began to show his true potential by scoring eight top-twenty finishes. Team Chick is slated to compete in at least eight NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events this season, while searching for primary sponsorship to run more events and look towards a run to the championship in 2005. Jones, and the team, will make their 2004 debut at Kansas Speedway, followed by Kentucky Speedway, before heading to the motor city at Michigan International Speedway. The remaining five events have yet to be determined. The team is actively seeking sponsorship for the remainder of the 2004 NCTS season, while looking ahead to 2005.
