#99-Carl Edwards held off #15-Shane Hmiel to capture the pole for Friday night’s Darlington 200 at Darlington Raceway. Edwards’ lap at 167.487 mph set a new track record, but Hmiel came closest to knocking Edwards from the top, with a lap at 166.947mph. #59-Bobby Hamilton Jr. was third, #9-Kasey Kahne fourth and series points leader #4-Bobby Hamilton Sr. will line up fifth. Hamilton Sr. leads #46-Dennis Setzer by seven points with two races remaining. Setzer qualified 17th-fastest.
