Gordon fastest in Tuesday’s AM Practice and repeats in PM, LaJoie and Said at the top:

#24-Jeff Gordon was fastest in the morning testing session at Daytona International Speedway for the Daytona 500 [Feb. 20th] with a speed of 185.265mph, followed by #36-Boris Said at 185.181, #19-Jeremy Mayfield at 184.506, #16-Greg Biffle at 184.430 and #97-Kurt Busch at 184.419. Slowest of the 26 was #92-Jeff Fuller at 176.585. Some drivers in different ride: Mike Skinner tested the #23 Bill Davis Racing Dodge, Jeff Fuller was in the #92 Chevy, Mike McLaughlin tested the #20 Chevy for Tony Stewart. 26 drivers ran the early session. There are 12 Chevy’s [3 in top 10], 8 Dodge’s [2] and 6 Ford’s [5]. No speeds listed for #9-Kahne or #49-Schrader, who are odd number owners points. #19-Mayfield and #9-Kahne switched as Kahne is tire testing at Atlanta. Been asked me why #29 Harvick is not testing, he is not scheduled until next week as his team finished in an even points [14th] position in owners points.

The fastest Dodge Charger was #19-Jeremy Mayfield who was 7th, Ganassi’s two teams were very slow. More testing on my 2005 Testing page.(1-11-2005)
