#24-Jeff Gordon won the Budweiser Pole for the Subway Fresh 500 at Phoenix International Raceway with a lap of 133.675mph, his first ever pole at Phoenix and 53rd of his career – 7th most overall. #12-Ryan Newman went out last to qualify and was 7th on his first lap and going for the pole and got a bit sideway’s and missed out on his 4th straight pole at Phoenix and will start 7th. The rest of the top-five are #97-Kurt Busch, #16-Greg Biffle, #18-Bobby Labonte and #25-Brian Vickers. #4-Mike Wallace went out on his lap and had no brakes and aborted his run, since the team is now in the top 35 in owners points, Wallace was assured to get in. Missing the race were #66-Hermie Sadler, #34-Steve Portenga and #02-Brandon Ash. #7-Robby Gordon got the final [43rd] spot. #33-Clint Bowyer will make his Nextel Cup debut, starting 25th.
