New team to debut at Mansfield:

Regan Smith will drive the #65 Dodge Truck in the UAW/GM 250 on Sunday. Two names familiar to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will reappear in the UAW/GM 250 this Sunday at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway. Raybestos Rookie contender Regan Smith will drive the #65 Dodge in his debut with a brand new NCTS team, Glynn Motorsports. Veteran NCTS crew chief Lance Hooper will be turning the wrenches for Smith. Hooper is also making his first NCTS appearance since Daytona where he was the crew chief for the #13 truck driven by Tracy Hines. “Scott Glynn approached me with the idea of starting a new truck team, and we’ve grown from an idea to a full-time operation in a very short time,” said Hooper. “Scott has certainly made the commitment financially, and has spared no expense in getting the truck team or the Busch team, up to speed.” Glynn Motorsports is currently operates two teams out of the Mooresville, NC complex. In addition to the truck team, Glynn Motorsports fields the #58 Serta NASCAR Busch Series car driven by Brent Sherman. Competition Director Steve Plattenberger, former crew chief for the #12 Fitz-Bradshaw Racing Busch car, will oversee both operations. Smith had started the season driving the Xpress Motorsports #19 truck, leading several laps at Daytona. “I want to thank Dave Fuge and the Xpress Motorsports organization for letting me drive their truck at Daytona and California,” said Smith. “Unfortunately, circumstances did not work out on sponsorship that would have allowed the program to continue.”(PR)(5-13-2005)
