Four-time NASCAR Cup champion #24-Jeff Gordon is joining forces with retired driving legend Mario Andretti to launch a driving school scheduled to open in August at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, the Charlotte Business Journal reports. The story says the new school will compete with those run by Richard Petty, which generates an estimated $25 million in annual revenue at 25 tracks nationwide, and one run by Dale Jarrett, which had revenue of $1.8 million in its most recent fiscal year. Gordon won’t be an investor in the school but will license his name for use, the story says. Plans call for expansion to additional tracks in 2006.(NASCAR Scene Daily Newsletter) more info at jeffgordonracingschool.com.(5-21-2005)
