Although his contract with Forsythe Championship Racing expires after this season, Paul Tracy isn’t sure where his future lies. “We haven’t gotten down to talk about next year,” the Toronto Champ Car driver said yesterday. “Right now is the beginning of the season for us, it’s only four races in. Once we get to August, September, then we start talking about next year, and see where talks go.” Tracy prefers not to look beyond that. “At the end of the day, if you’re winning races consistently then all of the other things that are going to happen in the future will fall in line,” he said. Tracy has long been rumoured to be leaving the Champ Car circuit. NASCAR’s Nextel Cup series has been a popular suggestion for him. It’s thought his “Thrill from West Hill” persona would mesh well with NASCAR’s star system. Tracy, however, made no mention yesterday of aspirations to drive stock cars. His only stated goal outside of Champ Car is to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. For the time being Tracy is focusing on the series he is competing in.(Ottawa Sun/CP)(6-24-2005)
