Stock Car Fans – Ramblings – Daytona:

Tony Stewart captured the Bud Pole today for tomorrow night’s Pepsi 400 at Daytona International Speedway with a speed of 185.582 mph (48.496 sec) and it’s his first top-spot since he captured the pole at Chicagoland Speedway in July of 2003! His 8th career pole gives us 10 different pole winners this season (and qualifiers for next February’s Budweiser Shootout).
Scott Riggs (2nd) will join Tony on the front row, and this is his best starting spot since he had the pole at Martinsville in April.
Joe Nemechek (4th) has his best starting spot since he lined up 4th at California in February.
The Hendrick customer engine program is pretty strong…..could be their own teams may be asking for customer engines from now on. Teammates (and HMS customers) Riggs, Boris Said, and Nemechek all start in the Top-5 tomorrow night.
Jason Leffler (8th) has his best starting spot since he qualified 6th at Kansas in October of 2003.
Kerry Earnhardt (10th) has his career-best starting spot for tomorrow night. His previous best was 20th for this race last year.
Bobby Hamilton Jr (12th) has his best starting spot since he had the outside pole at Atlanta in March.
Hermie Sadler (21st) has his best starting spot since he lined up 11th at Talladega last October.
Kevin Lepage (24th) has his best starting spot since he started 8th when we were here in February.
