Todd Bodine will test a Cicci/Kelly Racing NASCAR Busch Series car at Bristol, Tenn., Motor Speedway today. The Chemung native will make his return to the team he had much success with during the 1990s. The Mooresville, N.C.-based team is owned by Elmira native Frank Cicci Jr. and his partner, Jim Kelly, the NFL Hall of Fame quarterback. Bodine will attempt to race the #84 Dollar General-sponsored Chevrolet at the Food City 250 at Bristol on Aug. 26. Cicci said it is a one-race deal for Bodine at this point. He’ll team with regular driver Randy LaJoie, who will drive the #34 Dollar General Chevrolet. “We had a deal where our sponsor wanted to run a second car and I didn’t hesitate to put Todd in it,” Cicci said. “He’s like a son to me. I hope to put a second Busch Series program together and have Todd run a limited schedule with us.” Bodine finished second in the Busch Series championship in 1997 with Cicci, when the team was known as Cicci-Welliver Racing.
