Jarit Johnson [#48-Jimmie’s brother] will be making his first-ever start at Michigan International Speedway and in the ARCA RE/MAX Series on Aug. 19. Johnson will pilot the #5 (currently un-sponsored) Chevy for Bobby Gerhart Racing. Johnson’s only prior experience in an ARCA Series car was an August 2004 test session with Gerhart Racing at Chicago Land Speedway. A one-race deal between Johnson and Gerhart was struck just five days before the event. The two came to an agreement in support of Johnson’s upcoming efforts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Johnson hopes this race will provide added experience heading into the Craftsman Truck Series. His current race team SS Racing, is planning to enter at least two Craftsman Truck events before the end of the 2005 season.(SS Racing)(8-16-2005)
UPDATE: Levi Strauss Signature announced that they will sponsor Jarit Johnson in his first-career start in the ARCA RE/MAX Series at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) on August 19, 2005. The younger brother of NASCAR NEXTEL Cup driver Jimmie Johnson, Jarit will pilot the #5 Chevrolet Monte Carlo owned by Bobby Gerhart Racing.(Alan Taylor Communications)(8-19-2005)
