Todd Bodine is teaming up with NFL Hall of Fame quarterback and NASCAR Busch Series co-owner of the #34 Dollar General/Chevy Monte Carlo, Jim Kelly in Homestead this weekend. They are working to help raise awareness of Krabbe Disease through Kelly’s ‘Hunter’s Hope Foundation’ at this weekends NASCAR season final at Homestead-Miami Speedway. “We are excited about and honored by the commitment of Germain Motor Company, Todd and his championship caliber race team to help create greater awareness for the objectives of the Hunter’s Hope Foundation”, Kelly stated. “Our late son Hunter lived for nearly nine years with this debilitating illness that unfortunately was a terminal diagnosis for him because he was not diagnosed properly at birth for the disease”, Kelly explained. “One of our goals with the Foundation is to create greater awareness of not only the disease but the need for more universal newborn screening in states throughout this country that are deficient in the process. This special event at the final Craftsman Truck Series race by Todd and his team will help more and more people understand our cause”. Established in 1997 by Jim Kelly, and his wife, Jill, after their infant son, Hunter, was diagnosed with Krabbe Leukodystrophy, an inherited, fatal, nervous system disease. The Foundation is the Kelly’s life long commitment to increase public awareness of leukodystrophies as well as to increase the likelihood of early detection and treatment. Their ultimate goal is to raise money to fund research efforts to identify new treatments, therapies, and a cure for Krabbe and other leukodystrophies
