Peter Jellen, Transport Driver for the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing Team [J.J. Yeley], was all smiles Monday, after his driving skills earned him the victory in the second Chicane Course of the 2006 Pilot Truck Driver Challenge. The Chicane took place at the Charlotte Knight’s Baseball Stadium. Each competitor was judged on his ability to avoid obstacles and navigate the course safely. The course consisted of six stations each requiring an array of skills. Bill “Stump” Lewis, of the #2 Penske Racing team, was leading the challenge until the final station, when a bumped cone deduction gave Jellen the victory. Throughout the 2006 race season Pilot Travel Centers will host a series of challenges to reward the Nextel Cup transport driver who demonstrates safe and responsible truck driving, all year long. At the end of the season the winner will walk away with $50,000 and the coveted title “The 2006 Pilot Truck Driver Challenge Champion.” For more information on the challenge visit pilottruckchallenge.com.(5-25-2006)
