Ramblings – LMS:

Ray Evernham Dodge’s swept the front-row tonight at Lowe’s Motor Speedway as Scott Riggs took the Bud Pole for Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 with a time of 28.744 sec (187.865), barely edging out teammate Jeremy Mayfield by less than 1/10th of a second. This is Riggs’ second career top-spot (his other one came at Martinsville in April of 2005) and will qualify him for next February’s Budweiser Shootout at Daytona…..he’s entrant #8 thus far.
Jeremy Mayfield (2nd) has his best starting spot since he had the outside pole at The Brickyard last August.
Welcome Back Johnny Sauter (14th). This is his best starting spot since he lined up 13th at Richmond last May (only 6 races).
Terry Labonte (24th) has his best starting spot since he timed in 20th at Michigan last August (only 12 races).
STREAKIN….Greg Biffle has 11 Top-10 starts in a row.
Denny Hamlin has 5 Top-10 starts in the last 6 races.
The Trouble Train is a long (and surprising) one tonight as 10 cars failed to make the field. Kevin Lepage, Hermie Sadler, Chad Chaffin, Michael Waltrip, Stanton Barrett, Mike Garvey, Chad Blount, Carl Long, Kirk Shelmerdine, and Kertus Davis all miss the race…..but don’t be surprised if we some some financial wheelin’ and dealin’ by race time. At the very least I would suspect we’ll see those NAPA decals on some car Sunday Night.(Stock Car Fans)(5-25-2006)
