News & Notes from the Raybestos Rookie Contenders:

Aric Almirola was the Raybestos Rookie of the Race in the June 2 AAA Insurance 200 at Dover International Speedway. Almirola finished 12th and took top rookie honors for the third time this season. Almirola’s truck owner, Wayne Spears, made history at Dover. The Spears team made their 273rd start in the series, passing Jim Smith for most starts all-time. Erik Darnell leads the Raybestos Rookie standings by 14 points (82-68) over Aric Almirola entering the June 9 Sam’s Town 400 at Texas Motor Speedway. A Raybestos Rookie has won four of the 15 Craftsman Truck Series races at Texas: Irwin, Travis Kvapil (2001) and Brendan Gaughan, who swept both races in 2002. Raybestos Rookies Kvapil and Gaughan gave the rookie class three consecutive wins in 2001-2002.
