After hearing that AutoZone, current sponsor of Kenny Wallace’s No. 22 Busch Series entry was considering a change for 2007, ppc Racing officials confirmed to BGNRacing.com on Monday that the sponsor would be leaving and issued this statement: “AutoZone has notified ppc Racing that it will not be a full season primary sponsor in 2007. ppc Racing is interested in speaking with any parties who would like to talk about sponsorship of the #22 car, and join the top-performing Busch only team year after year.(BGNRacing.com)(8-14-2006)
UPDATE: A statement from Kenny Wallace: “Andy O’Hara from ppc called me last night to inform me that AutoZone will not be returning next year on any race car full time. AutoZone felt that it was best if their advertising budget was best spent on commercial spots instead of on a race car. AutoZone did alot for us, they really helped us when the times were tough last year, and I would like to thank them for the effort and work they put in with our team. Anything I can do for AutoZone in the future, I will gladly help with, they have been a great sponsor. I will drive the #78 car next year full time in Cup, the #22 next year full time in Busch and still do my normal SpeedTV duties. I will say the phone has been very busy today with offers of full time BGN and Cup ride offers, but I am more then happy with my current teams and am glad I will be running a full season with each.”(KennyWallace.com)(8-15-2006)
