Joe Gibbs Racing Director of Busch Series Operations Steve deSouza said Aug. 18 that Aric Almirola would probably drive “around 15-plus” races in 2007 as the team realigns its Busch efforts. “But the plan right now is [for] him to run the full truck series,” deSouza said. “We’ll just have to fit him in [the Busch car] around that.” Gibbs will continue to field two full-time Busch teams next year with Denny Hamlin and J.J. Yeley filling around 25 races each in those cars. deSouza said Tony Stewart would also run some Busch races for Gibbs. Candidates for the remaining races include development driver Woody Howard, Casey Atwood, and Kertus Davis.(NASCAR Scene)(8-24-2006)
