Hermie [Sadler] is slowly making the transition from driver to broadcaster. He’s done a handful of Busch and Truck series races this season on FX and the Speed Channel. Next year, he’ll be full-time with the Speed Channel. He won’t drive any more Busch races this season and plans to try to qualify for four more Nextel Cup races. Sadler doesn’t want to rule out driving beyond this year. He’s also realistic. Since winning the Busch rookie award, his driving career hasn’t panned out. “My heart and my love is in driving and racing,” Sadler said. “I’ve done it for a long time, trying to stay involved and keep my name out there and make something good happen. We’ve had our moments. I haven’t decided if I’m going to do a limited Cup schedule next year. I have to think long and hard about how feasible it is going to be to do it as an independent. I’ve had a good time, we’ve had a good run . . . I just don’t have the patience and the drive to keep doing it under these conditions.
