Miller leads first test session at LVMS:

Chase Miller’s Dodge Motorsports #4 Dodge led the first session of Friday’s practice in preparation for the Smith’s Las Vegas 350 NASCAR Truck Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Miller’s best Truck lap – 174.796 mph/30.898 sec. – was just shy of the Cup Series record of 174.904 mph, set by Kasey Kahne in 2004. The speedway’s new banking (20 degrees) upped the speeds for the Craftsman Trucks by approximately nine miles-per-hour (the Truck record was 165.320 mph, set by Mike Skinner in 2004). Of the 46 entries that practiced in the first session, 42 went faster than Skinner’s track record.(LVMS PR)(9-22-2006)

Notes: This is the first time that Goodyear brought this combination of left- and right-side tires to the track this season…teams in all three of NASCAR top three series did run this right-side code (D-4022) with a different left-side at Charlotte in May…as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run liners in all four tire positions at Las Vegas…air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.(9-21-2006)
