Smith & Wesson Corp. continues its tribute to America’s law enforcement heroes during this weekend’s ‘Busch Series Yellow Transportation 300 at Kansas’ with Detective Lt. Ronald Johnson of the Hammond (Indiana) Police Department acting as honorary crew chief of the #30 Smith & Wesson Chevy team of SKI Motorsports and driver Mike Bliss. Johnson is the sixth law enforcement hero to serve as honorary crew chief in Smith & Wesson’s ongoing tribute program run in partnership with the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Grand Lodge national headquarters. A 33-year veteran who retired from the Hammond Police Department this past April, Johnson was recognized for personally embarking on an exhaustive investigative effort that led to the conviction of a serial killer, whose victims included three missing Hammond teens.(SKI Motorsports PR)(9-28-2006)
