Riggs wins pole at Charlotte:

#10-Scott Riggs won the Budweiser Pole for the Bank of America 500 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway with a speed of 191.469mph for his 2nd pole of 2006 and 3rd of his career. Starting on the outside pole is #9-Kahne, followed by #42-Mears, #19-Sadler, #29-Harvick, #31-Burton, #6-Martin, #07-Bowyer, #41-Sorenson and #48-Johnson. #24-Gordon had a bad night qualifying and was just slow, will start 41st. #8-Earnhardt Jr. qualified 16th. #2-Kurt Busch’s time was disallowed after post-qualifying inspection, he has qualified 3rd [189.713mph]
The non-top 35 teams that made the race were: #4-Bodine, #49-Bliss, #55-Waltrip, #72-Skinner, #45-Petty, #06-Kluever, #32-Kvapil and #44-Terry Labonte [using a past champions provisional]. Missing the race were: #83-Bill Elliott [couldn’t use past champions provisional as Labonte used it and wasn’t fast enough], #34-Lepage, #74-Cope, #61-Chaffin, #00-Sadler, #27-Shelmerdine, #89-Shepherd [didn’t take a lap], #78-Wallace [wrecked on 1st lap] and #46-Long [wrecked on 1st lap].
