#25-Brian Vickers won the Budweiser Pole for the Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway with a new track record speed of 196.235mph for his 1st pole of 2006 and 4th career pole. Four drivers ran faster then the old track record of 194.224 that was run in April 2004 by Bill Elliott [who failed to qualify today]. Starting on the outside pole is #19-Sadler, #2-Busch, #9-Kahne and #48-Johnson are the top-5, rounding out the top-10 are #11-Hamlin, #38-Gilliland, #20-Stewart, #7-Gordon and #8-Earnhardt Jr. Points leader #17-Matt Kenseth starts 36th. The non-top 35 teams that made the race were: #49-Bliss, #15-Menard, #78-Wallace, #45-Petty, #4-Ward Burton, #55-Waltrip, #32-Kvapil and #44-Terry Labonte [had to use a past champions provisional]. Missing the race were: #34-Chaffin, #37-Elliott, #61-Lepage, #72-Skinner, #60-Ragan, #74-Cope and #84-Allmendinger.
