Jerick Johnson Walks Away from Firey Crash at Kentucky:

Jerick Johnson escaped injury after his car erupted in flames after a crash in Busch Series final practice at Kentucky Speedway. Johnson, driving Team Johnson Motorsports’ #76 Chevy, spun in Turn 4 and backed his car into the wall. As his car stopped on the apron, the rear burst into flames. The car burned for several seconds before track workers could get it, but once they did, the fire was so intense that extinguishers did little. Finally, as the car was engulfed in smoke, Johnson crawled out, and the flames were eventually snuffed out. Johnson’s team withdrew from the Meijer 300 because it does not have a backup car. That leaves 43 cars to qualify for Saturday’s race.(SceneDaily.com)(6-15-2007)
