CAT and BDR still discussing future:

Discussions between Caterpillar, Inc., and Bill Davis Racing regarding an extension of their sponsorship contract are on-going, Greg Towles, Caterpillar director of racing operations, said Tuesday. “We’re just having discussions. We really haven’t made a decision yet,” said Towles, whose company has sponsored the #22 BDR car since 1999. The current contract with the team is up after this season. “There’s no real set timetable,” he said. “We have had our discussions and we’ll see where it goes.” Towles said it was nice to see the team’s driver, Dave Blaney, win the pole for last Sunday’s race at New Hampshire, though the car eventually finished 29th. “I think, certainly, we’d like to be within the top 35 (in owner points, which guarantees a spot in the race),” Towles said. “The competition has been really tough this year and it’s been really hard on all the Toyota teams. So I guess I would say we’re disappointed in not being in the top 35 yet. I’d just say at this point that our conversations with them are pretty private and we just haven’t set a timetable on it, but when we do, we’ll be glad to share it with everybody.”(Peoria Journal Star)(7-5-2007)
