Chicagoland Rookie Notes:

#6-David Ragan was the Raybestos Rookie of the Race in the July 7 Pepsi 400 at Daytona International Speedway. Ragan finished 12th and took top rookie honors for the eighth time this season. He was the Raybestos Rookie of the Race in both races at Daytona this season (he scored a fifth-place finish in the Daytona 500). #42-Juan Pablo Montoya leads Ragan by 12 points (192-180) in the Raybestos Rookie standings entering the July 15 USG Sheetrock 400 at Chicagoland Speedway. The USG Sheetrock 400 will be race No. 6 in the Raybestos Rookie Magnificent Seven program. The Raybestos Rookie of the Race normally pays $1,500 but that increases to $5,000 at seven designated races throughout the 2007 season. Montoya (Las Vegas, Darlington, Infineon) and Ragan (Daytona, Martinsville) are the only drivers to collect the bonus money. Montoya is 21st in the Nextel Cup Series championship standings, best of any Raybestos Rookie. A Raybestos Rookie has won at least one race in each of the past three consecutive seasons. Reed Sorenson was the Raybestos Rookie of the Race in the 2006 USG Sheetrock 400, scoring a seventh-place finish. Kevin Harvick is the only Raybestos Rookie to win in six Nextel Cup races at Chicagoland Speedway. He won the 2001 Tropicana 400 by .649 seconds over Robert Pressley.(Camp & Assoc/Raybestos PR), see the full notes, standings, history and more on my 2007 Rookies Page.(7-12-2007)
