#8-Dale Earnhardt, Jr. won the Budweiser Pole for the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway with a speed of 169.975mph. He originally went out to make his qualifying lap, but pulled back down pit road when it began to rain. Qualifying was delayed by about 30 minutes. NASCAR allowed the #8 team to cool the car down and send Earnhardt, Jr. back out when the track was dry. It was Earnhardt, Jr.’s first pole since Kansas in 2002. #2-Kurt Busch qualified second, followed by: #5-Busch, #12-Newman, #9-Kahne, #11-Hamlin, #48-Johnson, #25-Mears, #42-Montoya, and #41-Sorenson.
