The entire Wood Brothers/JTG race team was saddened to learn of the passing of 16-year old Brandon Elam, a resident of Union County in North Carolina. Two weeks ago, the #21 Wood Brothers/JTG Craftsman Truck Series entry at Las Vegas Motor Speedway carried a set of tribute decals in honor his fight against cancer. Driver Jon Wood led 40 laps at the 1.5-mile speedway before finishing in third place that night. Elam and his family are close friends with Wood Brothers/JTG Account Executive Mike Murphy, who arranged to have the special decals produced and placed on the truck. When told of the decal idea, Brandon was ecstatic. He also recently attended the Porter Ridge High School vs. Concord High School football game-where he was designated a guest of honor. Elam was a student at Porter Ridge High. Funeral arrangements have not yet been set.
