#42-Juan Pablo Montoya was the Raybestos Rookie of the Race at Talladega Superspeedway. Montoya scored a 15th-place finish and took Raybestos Rookie of the Race honors for the 13th time this season, including two of the last three races. Montoya leads #6-David Ragan by 15 points (225-210) in the Raybestos Rookie standings entering the October 13 Bank of America 500 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Montoya is 20th in the Nextel Cup Series championship standings, 61 points ahead of 21st-place Kasey Kahne. David Stremme was the Raybestos Rookie of the Race in the 2006 Bank of America 500, scoring a 15th-place finish. Since 1975, only two Raybestos Rookies have won pole positions for the fall race at Charlotte: Jeff Gordon (1993) and Ward Burton (1994). Since 1975, only two Raybestos Rookies have scored a top-five finish in the fall race at Charlotte: Ron Bouchard (fifth in 1981) and Jeff Gordon (fifth in 1993).
