With the #21 Wood Brothers/JTG race team just outside the top-35 in points headed into this weekend’s event, Bill Elliott returned behind the wheel to greet a brand new primary sponsor, H.J. Heinz. During a special Thursday night edition of Nextel Cup qualifying, Elliott put the #21 Heinz Ore-Ida Ford 35th in the field for the running of the Bank of America 500 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Also new to the team this week, Gene Nead stepped in as crew chief to lead the organization’s efforts for the remainder of the year.
