Franchitti to test at Memphis:

Dario Franchitti – is scheduled to be on the track in Memphis this Wednesday, Oct. 17, for a closed test session, fueling speculation that he will enter the Busch Series Sam’s Town 250 on Oct. 27. Franchitti made a successful stock car debut for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) in the ARCA race at Talladega Oct. 5. After testing in Memphis this week, he is slated to make his Craftsman Truck Series debut Saturday in Martinsville before a possible return to Memphis to make his first Busch Series start. CGRFS announced Oct. 3 that Franchitti had signed a multi-year deal with the organization to compete in the Sprint Cup Series beginning in 2008 driving the # 40 Dodge Avenger next season. The 34-year-old Franchitti is in the midst of a stock car development program similar to the one CGRFS teammate Juan Pablo Montoya engaged in just over a season ago, with an impressive qualifying run and ARCA race in Talladega that led to his NASCAR debut in Memphis. The official entry list for the Sam’s Town 250 will be released next week. NASCAR returns to Memphis Motorsports Park on Oct. 26-27.
