The non-top 35 teams that made the race were: #83-Vickers, #10-Carpentier, #06-Hornish, Jr.(first career start), #27-Villeneuve, #09-Marlin, #36-Benson, #78-Nemechek and #21-Bill Elliott had to use a past champions provisional to make the race, the 4th of 6, so he has two to use with one race to go in the season.
