McCumbee resigns with MRD for 2008: UPDATE: Other series possible:

Shortly after the checkered flag dropped on the 2007 Craftsman Truck Series finale in Homestead, Florida, Chad McCumbee and MRD Motorsports wasted little time in making preparations for the 2008 season. Finishing the 2007 season on several positive notes left everyone anticipating the arrival of the 2008 season. The team spent the majority of the off season putting together a fleet of Chevys for a strong 2008 campaign. These efforts were quickly rewarded earlier this year as the team was able to put their #8 Chevy at the top of the charts for the two sanctioned test sessions at Daytona and Atlanta.(MRD Motorsports PR)(2-10-2008)
UPDATE: It appears there could be several keys on Chad McCumbee’s keychain this year. McCumbee is planning to run his third full season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. There is the possibility of driving in a Nationwide Series car for Petty Enterprises. There are plans for as many as five Sprint Cup races in Kyle Petty’s #45 car. And there is also a chance the Supply, N.C., native could drive in additional Sprint Cup races in a third car for CNC/Haas Racing. It all starts this week at Daytona International Speedway. McCumbee will drive the #8 truck for MRD Motorsports in Friday night’s Chevy Silverado 250.(Myrtle Beach Sun News)(2-11-2008)
