Germain Racing announced today that Mike Hillman Sr. General Manager, will serve as interim crew chief for Todd Bodine and the #30 Lumber Liquidators Tundra. Pursuant to penalties handed down by NASCAR this afternoon, Mike Hillman Jr., crew chief for Bodine, will begin serving a four race suspension this week while the race team considers filing an appeal. “Mike Hillman Jr. will begin serving the penalty assigned by NASCAR while Germain Racing looks at our options as far as possibly filing an appeal. In the interim, I will handle the crew chief duties for the #30 Tundra team,” said Mike Hillman Sr., who led the #30 Tundra team to two victories in 2004 before assigning crew chief duties to his son, Hillman Jr., in 2005. “I want to be clear that the mistake that NASCAR found was completely repaired before our race truck qualified. The Lumber Liquidators Tundra was presented to and accepted by NASCAR’s technical inspectors before and after the Daytona race – meaning the truck that won the race, met all of NASCAR’s criteria,” said Hillman Sr. “The Truck Series is home to excellent racing and we appreciate NASCAR’s commitment to a safe and level playing field. We hate that we had a problem with our truck, but we are glad it was fixed before the racing action began.”(Germain Racing PR)(2-21-2008)
