Only 21 teams/drivers in 25 cars took to Phoenix International raceway for the first day, morning session of testing. #15A-Paul Menard was the fastest at 131.186mph in a Chevy, followed by #42A-Montoya (Dodge), #96A-Yeley (Toyota), #41B-Sorenson (Dodge) and #07A-Bowyer (Chevy). there were only two Ford that tested #6A-Ragan was the fastest at 17th] and #21A-Bill Elliott.
