Kyle Busch won the Camping World RV Service 300 at Auto Club Speedway. Busch scored his 18th career victory in his 131st series start. Busch posted his 18th NASCAR victory in 2008 (seven in nationwide, eight in Sprint Cup and three in Craftsman Truck). Busch posted his first Auto Club Speedway victory in his eighth start. Busch led three times for 144 of 150 laps, the most of all drivers. He led the most laps for the 10th time in 2008.
Busch set a track record for the most laps led by a race winner; the previous record was 141 by Dale Earnhardt Jr. in 1998. The leader of the most laps has won nine of the 17 races at Auto Club Speedway, including eight of the past nine.
Busch posted his fourth-consecutive top-three finish at Auto Club Speedway. He became the first driver in 17 Nationwide races at Auto Club Speedway to win from the pole. Busch posted his fourth career win from the pole and his second of the 2008 season; he also won the Phoenix race in April from the pole.
Toyota scored its 16th win of the 2008 season, the most of all manufacturers.
Joe Gibbs Racing posted its 15th series win of the 2008 season, the most of all teams. It was the sixth win this season by the No. 18 (14th race of the season). Joe Gibbs Racing has led 280 of the past 300 laps raced at Auto Club Speedway. Gibbs swept both races at Fontana this season; Tony Stewart won in February.
Busch won the race with crew chief Mike Sibley, the fourth different crew chief that he has won with in the series in 2008.
Busch has scored a win at Auto Club Speedway in all three NASCAR national touring series; he won there in Craftsman Truck and the Sprint Cup series in 2005.
Carl Edwards, who finished second, posted his 14th top-10 this season.
Joey Logano, who finished sixth, posted his eighth top-10 finish in 11 career races.
Points leader Clint Bowyer finished seventh, posting his 22nd top-10 finish of the 2008 season, the most of all drivers. He has a 204-point lead over second-place Brad Keselowski.
David Ragan, who finished ninth, posted his 16th top-10 finish of the 2008 season, which ranks second to Clint Bowyer’s 22 top-10 finishes.
Keselowski, who finished 33rd, ended a 14-race streak of finishing on the lead lap. It was his worst finish of the season.
Bryan Clauson, who finished 18th, was the highest-finishing rookie of the year contender.
The top 10 was made up of four Toyotas, three Fords and three Chevrolets. Clauson drove the highest-finishing Dodge.(ESPN.com)(9-1-2008)
