#01-Regan Smith was the Raybestos Rookie of the Race in the September 14 Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Smith scored a 23rd-place finish and grabbed Raybestos Rookie of the Race honors for the eighth time this season. Smith leads #77-Sam Hornish Jr. by three points (186-183) in the Raybestos Rookie standings entering the September 21 Camping World RV 400 at Dover International Speedway. Smith has led the Raybestos Rookie standings for 10 consecutive races dating back to Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway. The 2006 fall race at Dover marked the first time three Raybestos Rookies finished in the top-10: Martin Truex Jr. (fourth), Clint Bowyer (eighth) and Denny Hamlin (ninth). Jimmie Johnson is the only Raybestos Rookie to sweep both Sprint Cup races at Dover. Johnson won both events in 2002 and led the most laps in each race. Johnson is the only first-year driver to lead the most laps (four times for 170 laps) in the fall race at Dover. The best qualifying effort by a Raybestos Rookie for the fall race at Dover is third by Tony Stewart (1999), Brian Vickers (2004) and Kyle Busch (2005).(Camp & Assoc/Raybestos), see rookie standings, history and more on my 2008 Rookies page.(9-18-2008)
