During Sunday night’s Speed Report, Ray Dunlap reported that there would be a new team making its debut at Bristol Motor Speedway in the Truck Series. The number will be 41 and the driver, sprint/midget car racer Tayler Malsam.(7-21-2008)
UPDATE: Tayler Malsam, the SunTrust Rookie-of-the-Year candidate in the ARCA RE/MAX Series will be driving for Cunningham Motorsports in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Bristol. We’ve also learned that Malsam will climb the ladder and run for Rookie-of-the-Year in the truck series in 2009. UPDATE 2: Fresh off a top-10 finish in his rookie season in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, Seattle’s Tayler Malsam has signed with Bill Davis Racing to pilot a fourth Toyota in the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. UPDATE 4: Tayler Malsam will make his debut behind the wheel of the #24 BDR Toyota in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series finale this weekend. Malsam has made just one start in NCTS competition, and will be shown the ropes this weekend by veteran Crew Chief Gene Nead. The #24 truck will be adorned with Stocks for Tots decals this weekend. Stocks for Tots was created as a way to bring together stock car racing and its fans, all the while raising awareness of the child abuse problem in North Carolina.
