Martins approved to run at Chicagoland:

Tommy Joe Martins went into last weekend’s races with moderate expectations. He wanted to run well enough in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Toyota Tundra 200 at the Nashville Superspeedway to get approved to compete in the truck series race at Chicagoland Speedway later in the season. He also wanted to run in the top five in the ASA Nashville 200 at the Fairgrounds Speedway. Martins was able to qualify in the 21st position in only his second Camping World Truck Series start. Unfortunately for Martins, his qualifying effort would be the highlight of the night. On lap 52, while running mid-pack, Martins was involved in an incident with Blake Feese and Mario Gosselin. Martins would be credited with a 27th place finish in the final rundown. However, the night wasn’t a complete loss as NASCAR agreed with Martins’ evaluation that is was a racing incident and approved him to compete at the 1.5 mile Chicagoland Speedway later this month.(Fairgrounds Speedway PR)(8-7-2009)
