Cassill made his NASCAR debut in 2007 – at just 17 years of age – driving in a limited schedule of just six races for Hendrick Motorsports in the Nationwide Series. In 2008 he made 19 Nationwide Series starts, he earned five top-ten finishes in the Nationwide Series with a best finish of sixth (twice, at Gateway and Phoenix) and scored one pole position (Loudon).
