At a time when NASCAR is seeking ways to reduce pollutants and unnecessary waste, Frank Cicci a Nationwide Series veteran, has partnered with sponsor, Rentech, for NASCAR’s first environmentally friendly race team.”Rentech is excited to be a part of the first green mission NASCAR team to encourage consumers and businesses to be more environmentally aware in their choices,” stated Rick Penning, Executive Vice President of Technology and Commercial Affairs. “It is an opportunity to reach a broad audience to support the need for developing renewable synthetic fuels that decrease our dependence on foreign supply and are more environmentally friendly.” Rentech is developing the United States’ first renewable synthetic fuels and renewable power facility from green waste in Rialto, California. Cicci has named Todd Bodine to drive the Get Green Car. UPDATE: A team official denied that Bodine will be the driver, although the team website still lists Bodine as the driver as of Friday afternoon. Officials with Todd Bodine also said that he intended to run the full Camping World Truck Series season and that no Nationwide races are currently planned.(4-16-2010)
