Jeff Gordon, whose wife is expected to give birth to the couple’s second child in the next couple of weeks, will have Aric Almirola on standby next week at Pocono Raceway and then road-racing ace Scott Pruett on standby the following week at Watkins Glen. Almirola was the standby driver for Gordon’s Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jimmie Johnson earlier this year but never had to get in the car during a race. Pruett, who drives for Chip Ganassi in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series, was already going to be at The Glen for the Grand-Am event and Almirola will be in Nashville for a Truck Series race that weekend.(SceneDaily.com)(7-25-2010)
