Marcos Ambrose won the Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International, his third series victory in his 73rd start. All his wins have come at Watkins Glen, where he has made four starts and has won three straight. He started first, and it was his first victory from the pole. The past four series road course races were won from the front row. Ambrose became the 10th different series race winner in 2010.
Ambrose joined Terry Labonte (1994, 1995, 1996) as the only drivers to win three consecutive races at the Glen. Ambrose led 60 of 82 laps, leading the most laps for the fifth time in his career.
It was the third series win for JTG-Daugherty Racing, all by Ambrose. It was the team’s first series win of 2010.
It was the 12th win in 2010 for Toyota, the most of any manufacturer. Chevrolet and Dodge have four apiece, and Ford has two.
Joey Logano (who finished second) scored his best finish in three races at Watkins Glen.
Kevin Harvick (third) has scored top-10 finishes in all six of his series races at the Glen.
Brad Keselowski (fourth) posted his best finish at Watkins Glen and matched his career-best road course finish set at Road America. Keselowski has scored top-10 finishes in all three of his Watkins Glen races and has a 327-point lead over second-place Carl Edwards, Keselowski’s biggest lead of the season.
Kyle Busch (fifth) posted his third top-10 finish in four races at Watkins Glen. With his lead on Lap 27, Busch posted his 8,600th lap led in the series, and he has led in all 18 of the series races he has competed in this season.
Ron Fellows, who recovered from a speeding penalty, finished sixth in his 17th series road course start, the most series road course starts all time.
Nelson Piquet Jr. finished seventh in his series debut and became the second series driver to score a top-10 finish in his 2010 series debut, joining Owen Kelly (fifth) at Road America.
Steve Wallace (ninth) has scored top-10 finishes in the past four races and 15th or better in his past 10 races.(ESPN.com)(8-9-2010)
