Specialty Racing #61 Nationwide team has a new majority owner and is sporting a new name — 2nd Chance Motorsports. Rick Russell has acquired majority ownership in the #61 team effective Sept.1, 2010. The team will operate under the name of 2nd Chance Motorsports LLC. “Our goal is to operate wisely, try to advance the points we hold at present, in hopes of attracting a driver or sponsor looking to make a run in NASCAR. Ultimately we’d like to develop a talented driver in the K&N East Series or ARCA, utilizing our current inventory of cars. We will definately remain a Ford team, the Roush Yates power is hard to walk away from, so we are working hard in order to obtain a couple COT Mustangs for 2011”, said Russell.(2nd Chance PR)(9-2-2010)
UPDATE: The #61 Nationwide Team is still racing under the Specialty racing banner. Doug Taylor is still owner of the team and will continue to operate as such. 2nd Chance Motorsports LLC, who was helping out the team, will continue its search for drivers to introduce to its development programs in K&N East Series and ARCA.(PR)(9-3-2010)
