#11-Denny Hamlin won the AAA 500 Sprint Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway for his 8th win of 2010 and the 16th win of his career, with the win Hamlin takes the points lead. #17-Kenseth finished second followed by #5-Martin, #20-Logano, #16-Biffle, #29-Harvick, #33-Bowyer, #6-Ragan, #48-Johnson and #98-Menard. #21-Trevor Bayne finished 17th in his Sprint Cup debut. Pole sitter #19-Sadler finished 23rd with no laps led.
A couple of ‘interesting’ incidents during the race included #18-Kyle Busch getting held and penalized 2 laps for “unsportsmanlike conduct” after making an “inappropriate gesture” when he was penalized for speeding exiting pit road and brought in for a penalty around lap 146. Another one was when #24-Gordon & #31-Burton wrecked during the yellow on lap 192 when Burton got into Gordon, both drivers got out of their cars, Gordon bypassed his ambulance and approached Burton and pushed Burton and they kind of got in to some fisticuffs on the backstretch before getting separated by track workers. Burton afterwards took blame for the incident, said he couldn’t see well with the sun and glare and got into Gordon’s car, causing both th hit the wall.
After Gordon was taken out of the race, his crew was sent to the #48-Johnson pits to ‘assist’ as the #48 pit crew has been losing spots each pit stop.
There were 33 lead changes among 13 drivers and 9 cautions for 40 yellow flag laps. The attendance was reported at 156,000, last year the attendence was 167,000.
Scheduled Race Re-Airs are ESPN2, Sunday, November 8 at 2:30am/et; and SPEED, November 10 at 12:00pm/et.
