#24-Jeff Gordon is mired in 14th place but he’s currently in The Chase field because he is the only competitor from 11th to 20th place with a win. Because no one else has a win in that group, 11th place #5-Mark Martin gets the other spot at the moment. Look for this rule to make things interesting down the stretch. #4-Kasey Kahne, for instance, is in 18th but certainly is capable of one or more wins. #31-Jeff Burton, all the way back in 23rd, could throw a hail mary by getting himself in the Top 20 and getting a win, thus leap-frogging many teams to get into The Chase. Again last race at Dover, Carl Edwards was a strong contender for a win until late-race pit strategy put him back in the pack. Still, he managed a seventh and now has almost a two-race cushion on 11th place. He has nine Top 10s in 11 races.
